About Migraine

Migraine is one of the most common diseases in today’s generation. Almost one-third of our population is suffering from migraine headaches these days. I was suffering from migraine since from my college days for almost 5-6 years. I ignored it as it was not so severe. Later, it started troubling me so badly that I used to be down for almost 3 days of every week. Thus I used to have only 4 days to finish all my chores. It adversely affected my career as well. Personal life was still in balance because of my understanding husband. I even tried different kinds of medicines, but all went in vain.

That’s when I started to explore natural ways of curing this instead of depending on mere medicines. I tried and tested several natural therapies and here I am listing all of them in hope to help someone who is suffering from this kind of lifestyle disease.

In this article I mainly concentrate on the remedies which work on energy level.. Since the migraine is called lifestyle disease, one can get rid of this terrible headache by making some changes in their lifestyle. There are some natural and effective remedies out there.

My recommended practices to get rid of migraine

During the years when I used to suffer from migraine, I tried and tested all these methods successfully. So, to begin with one should have a great mindset along with willingness to practice, because nothing is going to work overnight. Practice is the key. Afterall these natural remedies though slow in nature, unlike the medicines not going to harm you in anyway. Rather these practices are going to bring lots of positive changes in your life as a bonus.

So, coming back to my list of some remedies, have a look on below age old healthy remedies and practice any which resonates with you.

1. Pranayama

Pranayama is one of the effective ways to control migraine. In fact, mastery on breathing techniques can make your body and mind healthy like never before. One who practices pranayama regularly is going to have a healthy life in general. Anulom vilom is the best and easy way anyone can do it during morning serene time.

2. Mudras
Mahasheersha mudra

Like Pranayama, yogmudra is also one of the most valuable contribution from our ancestors. There are some mudras( hand gestures prescribed in Yoga texts) that help you keep the migraine at bay. Practicing certain yog mudras like jnana mudra, pran mudra, sahasrara mudras are considered as effective.

Another most effective mudra for migraine is Mahasheersha mudra. Along with migraine it can be practiced for sinus also. It also reduces tension created in the eyes, neck and back. This can be practiced by folding your ring finger so that it reaches root of the thumb, tips of thumb, index finger and middle finger should touch each other and little finger be stretched out.

Practicing any mudra regularly for minimum of 10-15 minutes each day will help you for sure. These mudras control our 5 elements inside body through meridian points on the tips of the fingers.

3. Eating healthy

Eating healthy food is the key to healthy life. However difficult thing to understand is what is healthy for you. A particular food which is healthy for person X may not be healthy for person Y. Each of their body is unique and the way they accept food is also unique.

So keep a close eye on what you eat and what are their effect. Keep a journal if needed. Understanding your body in this way is very helpful in long run. Taking example of myself, I used to eat banana a lot since its considered as a healthy food in general. But what I learnt later is my body rejects banana. Whenever I ate 2-3 small bananas in a day its confirmed that I get migraine for sure the following day.

4. Reiki

This is one of my favorite methods on which I can always rely. I was initiated to reiki 5 years back and since then there is no turning back. I was not particular to heal my headache because when I was under migraine attack I was not left with any patience to heal myself, and when there was no migraine attack, I was good, no need to heal Well, that was the case with me.

But I practiced reiki religiously every day for my general healing and ta-da! I remarkably recovered in all aspect of my life. No need to say explicitly that migraine was no more! Everyone around me observed this-that I was more enthusiastic, more happy, healthier, and of course more productive!
