In one of my article I have written about ADHD and its symptoms. When I found out I may have this condition, started working on myself with great dedication. I incorporated this easy technique called Superbrain Yoga in my routine and found great improvement in my symptoms. Here in this article, I am going to share that technique with you.

In India those who are in middle age group now, might have experienced squatting punishment one or other time of their school life. This used to be so common punishment from teachers to the students who does not have discipline. Teachers’ target used to be mostly back benchers who had difficulty in following the lessons or instructions from teachers.

The same punishment is now named as Super Brain Yoga in the west due to its immense power of contributing to our brain health.

What is Super Brain Yoga?

Super brain Yoga is the name given to a simple Yogic asana (which is also called as Ganeshasana) in India to empower your brain cells. It is called Ganeshasana because it’s the traditional form of worshiping Lord Ganesha to please Him.

In our tradition we consider Lord Ganesh as the Lord of wisdom. By doing this exercise to please him, you automatically improve your intellect. That could be the reason to associate this exercise to our Lord Ganesha.

Our ancient Sages have developed this method with the intention of raising intellect of the common people. Even in many households this method is the way of disciplining children.

How does it work?

Super brain Yoga works on the principle of acupuncture. It is believed that the points in the earlobes directly correspond to the brain. While the left earlobe connects the right brain hemisphere, the right ear lobe connects to the left hemisphere of the brain.

Applying pressure on these points imply that stimulating the brain cells. It’s believed that even the children with Autism, ADHD, speech delay, alzhaimeir etc., show more improvement in their cognitive and functional ability.

When both the ear lobes are pressed at same time, it induces co-ordination between left and right brain hemispheres which in turn increases movement of alpha waves inside the brain.

This Alpha wave is considered as high performing wave, in which your brain is in calm as well as highly efficient state. This alpha wave is found to be dominant in the brains of achievers of various fields. It’s found that the presence of alpha waves increases immediately after performing this Super brain Yoga..

Practicing super brain Yoga can result in lots of benefits for both mind and body. As a physical exercise it helps body to develop strong muscles and as a acupressure treatment it can also give you strong mind. Some benefits are listed here:

How to perform Super Brain Yoga

To get faster and complete benefit from this Super brain Yoga, there are some methods to follow. These rules are as simple as this exercise itself. Find the step by step method below:

1. This should be done as a first thing in the morning after waking up.

2. Preferably approximately at the time of sunrise.

3. Face to East direction.

4. Make sure you don’t wear any ornaments in the ear so that you can press your earlobe properly.

5. Place your tongue in such a way that it should touch the roof of the mouth. 

6. Hold your left earlobe with your right hand in such a way that thumb should in the front side of your earlobe and index finger at the back.

7. Similarly hold the right earlobe with your left hand.

8. Keep your legs in alignment to your shoulders.

9. While inhaling squat down.

10. While exhaling get up.

11. Repeat this cycle for 14 times.

12. In the beginning you can practice with the set of 7 and then when you are comfortable increase it by another 7. For best results you can squat 21 times.

During initial days of this Yoga practice, you may not notice anything positive. However, if you make a habit of practicing regularly, the difference can be seen with the minimum of 90 days practice.

Special tip for ADHD and autistics:

In addition to this simple exercise, one can reduce the symptoms of ADHD and autism largely by reducing the refined sugar intake. Control your sugar cravings and your half the battle is won. In fact, sugar intake is no good for anybody. However, it affects more for the neuro divergent people.

Even though practicing this exercise proves highly beneficial for the children, anyone from any age group can practice this humble exercise. However, please keep your health in mind. If you notice any discomfort or knee pain, please consult your health provider before continuing with this.

Other benefits of Super brain Yoga

This Yoga practice can increase the flow of pranic energy in your body. The pranic healing practitioners emphasis on this Yoga. This exercise has the ability to align your Chakras, and thereby supplying flow of prana to all the Chakras properly.

When this Yoga exercise is practiced properly, it also makes your spinal cord strong and thereby making sciatic nerves inside the spine stronger too. This results in quicker reflexes. This Yoga has 3-fold benefit by empowering your brain, body and spine.

Conclusion

This practice was not given much emphasis in our older generation because it was so common for them either in the form of punishment or worship. Hence, they used to get its benefit naturally anyway.

But in the present era, its highly difficult to see such punishment being existed either in our school or home. Slowly this way of worshiping Lord Ganesha also declining. This is making our younger generation to lose this gem.

By re-introducing this in the form of morning exercise regularly, we can re-enforce that lost discipline in the younger generation. It just takes 3 to 5 minutes of your time but gives benefit for lifetime. So anyone irrespective of their age group can practice this for both mental and physical exercise.
