When we think of a Chakra(wheel) we immiditely think of a machine. A wheel makes any object move. Similarly, many chakras are working inside us so that our body keeps working properly and in a healthy way. They are all energy centers of our body. Balancing these energy centers are very important. These chakras function in our subtle body. One can not see or touch this subtle body. According to our ancient scriptures, chakras are the places where the pulses of Ida and pingala overlap.
Prana energy flows through our subtle body along with all the chakras. It is this Prana Shakti that keeps our physical body healthy. So these points become either the cause or solution of all our problems.
Although there are thousands of chakras functioning in our body, 7 chakras are the most important among them. These chakras are located in the center of our body from the tip of the spine to the top of the head. Particular color, vibration, symbol and sounds are associated with each of the energy centers.
These chakras are not just responsible for our physical health but also for all dimensions like mental, emotional, spiritual health. Hence activating these seven chakras and keeping them in balance is the key for the good health. Our physical and mental health gets affected if these energy centers are blocked or malfunctioning. Regularly working on these chakras can heal them and make them function properly. So now let’s briefly look into these chakras one by one.
Seven Main Chakras
The following seven chakras are very important parts of our life. Every state of these chakras determines our mental and physical wellbeing. Although this chakra system is a separate healing modality by itself, it is being incorporated into almost all natural therapies today. Now let’s know about each of this chakra and their importance in our life.
Root chakra
In Sanskrit, this chakra is called as mooladhar chakra. As this name suggests it acts as a foundation for all chakras. It is located at the end of the spine facing downwards. Red color represents root Chakra. This chakra develops in childhood. A basic survival instinct comes from this chakra. According to Hindu scriptures Lord Ganesha rules the Muladhara Chakra and it represents the Earth element.
A well-functioning Root Chakra makes the person self-confident, stable, energetic, independent and strong. If this chakra is malfunctioning, the person is unstable and lacks ambition. There is also a feeling of insecurity. For more information on root chakra please visit this link.

As this chakra is the chakra of spiritual awareness, its activation makes a person free from the fear of death. And renounces the fascination of material, worldly life. An imbalanced third eye Chakra can make a person egotistical or physically it may manifest itself as headaches, eye problems, etc.
Crown Chakra
This chakra, which looks like a lotus with thousands of petals, is also called “Brahma Randra”. It can be said to be a bridge between the spiritual world and the mundane world.
